The Story Behind The Sticker:

Colonel Asaf Hamami was an opinionated and intelligent child. In his youth, he loved playing water polo, and even after enlisting in the army, he continued to play on weekends when he came home.

In his role as commander of the Negev Brigade, Asaf knew the names of the thousands of soldiers under his command. He was aware of each soldier’s personal challenges and made a point of maintaining a close relationship with them.

For example, when he learned that certain soldiers were struggling financially, he would secretly leave money under their pillows so they could go home for the weekend with peace of mind. He did this discreetly, and if a soldier happened to see him, he would ask them not to tell anyone. He even chose to donate his wedding gifts to lone soldiers so they could travel to visit their families.

Asaf was a man of extraordinary generosity, and the slogan: “Be good, be Hamami” was coined by his soldiers because it perfectly reflected the values he built into his character over the years and instilled in both his subordinates and his friends—simply be good, be humble, be giving, listen to others, and show unconditional love.
