As we approach the two-year anniversary of October 7th, a date etched into the collective memory of the Jewish people, we also prepare to celebrate Sukkot, the festival of shelter, resilience, and spiritual joy.
This year, the first day of Sukkot falls on October 7th, offering a powerful opportunity to reflect, remember, and find meaning.
One of the mystical customs of Sukkot is the welcoming of spiritual guests into the sukkah each night, a tradition rooted in Kabbalah. These guests, known as the Ushpizin (Aramaic for “guests”), traditionally refer to seven guiding figures from Biblical history. Each embodies a divine attribute (sefira) and a form of spiritual leadership, offering timeless lessons for our lives today. Each night of Sukkot, one of the Ushpizin is welcomed into the sukkah, offering us a chance to reflect on their values and spiritual gifts.
In many modern communities, the mystical custom of welcoming guests into the sukkah has expanded to include the Ushpizot—seven inspirational women from Jewish history whose lives and legacies bring added depth to our celebration. The Ushpizot remind us that Jewish resilience and leadership are carried forward not only through the patriarchs, but also through mothers, prophets, and visionaries whose voices continue to inspire.
To help individuals, families, schools, and communities honor this sacred convergence of memory and celebration, Stickers of Meaning has created special Ushpizin Reflection Packets. You are encouraged to hang these materials in your sukkah, use them in classrooms, or share them during holiday meals and gatherings.
Each packet includes beautiful Ushpizin posters featuring the traditional guests honored each night of Sukkot (posters can be ordered of Ushpizin, Ushpizot or both as preferred). Each poster includes short, engaging teachings about each Ushpizin/ot from Jewish tradition and related memorial stickers from the Stickers of Meaning archive with messages paralleling the attributes of each Ushpizin and Ushpizot. Along with reflection questions to inspire personal introspection and meaningful conversations in the sukkah.

בזמן שאנו מתקרבים לציון שנתיים לאירועי ה־7 באוקטובר, תאריך החרוט בזיכרון הקולקטיבי של העם היהודי, אנו גם מתכוננים לחגוג את חג הסוכות, חג של מחסה, חוסן ושמחה רוחנית.
השנה, היום הראשון של חג הסוכות חל ב־7 באוקטובר, ומציע הזדמנות עוצמתית להתבוננות, לזיכרון ולמציאת משמעות.
אחד מן המנהגים של חג הסוכות הוא קבלת אורחים לסוכה בכל לילה, מסורת שמקורה בקבלה. אורחים אלו, המכונים אושפיזין (בארמית: “אורחים”), מתייחסים באופן מסורתי לשבע דמויות מנחות מן ההיסטוריה המקראית. כל אחת מהן מגלמת ספירה אלוהית וצורה של מנהיגות רוחנית, ומציעה שיעורים נצחיים לחיינו כיום.בכל לילה של חג הסוכות, אחד מהאורחים הללו מוזמן אל הסוכה, ומאפשר לנו להתבונן בערכיו ובמתנותיו הרוחניות.
בקהילות מודרניות רבות, המנהג של קבלת אורחים לסוכה התרחב לכלול את האושפיזות – שבע נשים מעוררות השראה מן ההיסטוריה היהודית, שחייהן ומורשתן מוסיפים עומק לחגיגה שלנו. האושפיזות מזכירות לנו כי החוסן והמנהיגות היהודיים נמשכים הלאה לא רק באמצעות האבות, אלא גם דרך אמהות, נביאות ומובילות דרך שקולותיהן ממשיכים לעורר השראה.
כדי לעזור ליחידים, משפחות, בתי ספר וקהילות לכבד את המפגש הקדוש הזה בין זיכרון לחגיגה, יצר מיזם מדבקות עם משמעות ערכות אושפיזין מיוחדות לסוכות. מומלץ לתלות את החומרים הללו בסוכה, להשתמש בהם בכיתות, או לשתף בהם במהלך סעודות החג ומפגשים קהילתיים.
כל ערכה כוללת פוסטרים מעוצבים של האושפיזין המסורתיים המציגים את האורחים הנכבדים בכל לילה של חג הסוכות (ניתן להזמין פוסטרים של אושפיזין, אושפיזות או שניהם כתלות בהעדפה). כל פוסטר מכיל מידע קצר ומלמד על כל אושפיזין/ה מן המסורת היהודית יחד עם מדבקות זיכרון מתוך ארכיון מדבקות עם משמעות אשר המסרים שעל גביהן מקבילים לתכונות של כל אחד מן האושפיזין והאושפיזות. בנוסף, כל פוסטר יכיל שאלות למחשבה, המעודדות התבוננות אישית ושיחות משמעותיות בתוך הסוכה.
