Son of Ziva and Darba. Born on the 25th day of Nisan 5,762 (7.4.2002) in Ethiopia. Brother of Shani, Avnet, Niv, Yoel and Ben-El. He immigrated to Israel with his family in 2002 when he was two months old. On March 21, 2021, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Golani brigade. Staff Sergeant Binyamin Teshager Taka fell in battle on the 22nd day of Tishri 5,784 (7.10.2023). He was twenty-one years old. He was laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery on Mount Herzl. He is survived by his parents, sister and four brothers.

The Story Behind The Sticker:

Binyamin was a people person – warm, generous, principled, and devoted. He was admired by his younger siblings and always knew how to offer a shoulder to lean on, to truly listen, and to always say the right thing.

Already in high school, he chose the firefighting, rescue, and lifesaving track and was known as initiative-driven and charismatic who inspired everyone around him. After graduation, he joined a pre-military preparatory program, where he studied, worked, contributed to the community, and traveled.

On October 7th, on what was supposed to be his last day in the IDF, as sirens sounded and reports came in about terrorists infiltrating, he prepared for combat. From inside the shelter, he managed to send reassuring messages to his loved ones: “Everything is completely fine, there’s nothing to worry about.“ Binyamin fought with courage and determination, neutralized terrorists, and kept fighting even after being wounded, until a terrorist who had entered the shelter opened fire at him.

Binyamin used to always say: “Anyone who isn’t smiling right now is a sucker.” This phrase was chosen to appear on the sticker in his memory because he believed that the most important thing is to smile at life, at those around you, and to spread light and joy. That is how his family remembers and commemorates him, always with a smile.
