Son of Hedva and Mordi. Born on the 11th day of Heshvan 5,763 (16.10.2002) in Ofakim. Brother of Yanir, Nissim and Hili. On March 22, 2021, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Kfir Brigade. Staff Sergeant Nadav Biton fell in battle on the 22nd day of Tishri 5,784 (7.10.2023). He was twenty-one years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Ofakim. He is survived by his parents three siblings.
The Story Behind The Sticker:
Staff Sergeant Nadav Biton was loved everywhere he went – shy, smiley, humble, and a person of peace. He was always the one who showed respect to others, cared for them, and truly saw everyone. Nadav had many dreams, including the dream of becoming a combat soldier in the IDF. He was not willing to give up, and through perseverance and determination, he was drafted into the Kfir Brigade.
On Simchat Torah, Nadav went out with a friend to the “Nova” music festival. When the attack began, they fled, but his friend twisted his ankle. Nadav did not abandon him, with remarkable resourcefulness, he helped his friend hide in a tree hollow, carefully covering him with branches. Nadav promised his friend that he would get home. He repeatedly told him to stay in the hiding place so that he could see his daughter, who was yet to be born, and in doing so, he strengthened his friend’s spirit.
Nadav asked his friend to wait in the hiding place until he returned with help. On his way to find assistance, he encountered a group of attackers and was shot to death. As Nadav had promised, his friend survived. Nadav’s father, who had prepared a housing unit for him in anticipation of his discharge from the IDF, has since turned it into a guesthouse for lone soldiers, where he hosts, cooks, and does their laundry, as a tribute to Nadav’s enduring love.
His family chose to commemorate him with the words: “If you can dream it, you can do it.” A reflection of his independence, diligence, and ambition. Nadav will always be remembered as a gentle-hearted hero, true to himself and endlessly devoted to caring for others, even in his final moments.
בנם של חדוה ומורדי. נולד ביום י”א בחשוון תשס”ג (16.10.2002) באופקים. אח ליניר, נסים והילי. ביום 22.3.2021 התגייס לצה”ל ושירת בחטיבת כפיר. סמ”ר נדב ביטון נפל בקרב ביום כ”ב בתשרי תשפ”ד (7.10.2023). בן עשרים ואחת בנופלו. הוא הובא למנוחות בבית-העלמין הצבאי אופקים. הותיר אחריו הורים ואחים.
הסיפור שמאחורי הסטיקר:
סמ”ר נדב ביטון ז”ל היה אהוב בכל מקום שאליו הגיע. ביישן, חייכן, ענו, ובן אדם של שלום. הוא זה שתמיד נתן כבוד לאחרים, דאג להם, וראה כל אחד. לנדב היו חלומות רבים, וביניהם החלום להיות לוחם בצה”ל. הוא לא היה מוכן לוותר, ובזכות התמדה ונחישות גויס לחטיבת כפיר.
בשמחת תורה נסע נדב לבלות עם חבר במסיבת הנובה. כשהחלה המתקפה הם ניסו להימלט מהמקום, אך במהלך המנוסה, חברו נקע את הרגל. נדב לא נטש אותו, ובתושייה רבה סייע לו להסתתר בתוך גומחה בעץ לאחר שהסתיר אותו עם ענפים. נדב הבטיח לחבר שהוא יחזור הביתה, הוא שב ואמר לו שעליו להישאר במקום המסתור כדי שיוכל לראות את בתו שעתידה להיוולד ובכך חיזק את רוחו.
נדב ביקש מהחבר להמתין במסתור עד שיחזור עם עזרה. בדרכו לחיפוש עזרה נתקל בחוליית מחבלים ונורה למוות. חברו כפי שהבטיח נדב – ניצל. אביו, שבנה עבורו יחידת דיור לקראת שחרורו הצפוי מצה”ל, הפך אותה מאז לצימר לחיילים בודדים שם מארח, מבשל ומכבס להם, כמחווה לאהבתו של נדב לאחר.
משפחתו בחרה להנציח אותו במשפט “אם אתה יכול לחלום זאת אתה יכול לעשות זאת” כסמל לעצמאות, חריצות ושאפתנות שאפיינו אותו. נדב ייזכר תמיד כגיבור עדין-נפש, שנשאר נאמן לעצמו ולעולם לא הפסיק לדאוג לאחרים גם ברגעיו האחרונים.
