Son of Limor and Abraham. Born on the 12th day of Kislev 5,760 (21.11.1999) in Rosh HaAyin. Brother of Itay. On October 7, 2023, he enlisted in the reserves and served in the infantry. Sergeant First Class (res.) Sagi Idan fell in battle on the 12th day of Shevat 5,784 (22.1.2024). He was twenty-four years old. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Rosh HaAyin cemetery. He is survived by his parents and brother.

The Story Behind The Sticker:
Sagi had a huge heart and a captivating smile that never left his face. He always thought of others before himself. His friends and family describe him as humble, principled, loyal, and full of kindness — someone who always saw the people around him. Wherever he went, he brought joy, laughter, and light. He had a deep love for nature and would often travel across the country and explore new landscapes.

Sagi began his mandatory service as a combat soldier in the Givati Brigade and went on to serve as a career soldier, eventually becoming a company sergeant. His commanders described him as an exceptional, highly respected and disciplined soldier who upheld the highest standards and led the company to great achievements. Sagi completed his military service and worked as a commander in the security division at Ben Gurion Airport and was awarded a certificate of excellence for his performance.

On October 7th, before being officially called up, he joined his reserve unit. Although he held an essential civilian position that could have exempted him from duty, he refused. In the Notes app on his phone, he wrote: “The ultimate mission – protecting human lives.” For three months, Sagi fought with determination, teamwork, and courage in alongside his comrades-in-arms, in a war he said was the most just of all.

On January 22, 2024, Sagi’s brigade was conducting a mission to sweep and secure buildings from explosives and enemy threats. Moments before the operation ended, an RPG was launched at the unit, bringing down the structure and taking the lives of Sagi and twenty other soldiers from the brigade.

In his last letter, among the powerful words he wrote, was the sentence chosen for the sticker: “I have no other country, especially when my land is burning, and if to die let it be for the defense of the homeland.”
